ネットでブラブラしていたら、ReceptoPharmというバイオ系会社が開発している「RPI-78M」という薬剤を発見しました！

これについては、私銭形も初めて耳にする薬剤だったのですが、驚いたことに、このRPI-78Mという薬剤…、

薬剤の開発に使われている技術などについては、また時間がある時に調べてみますが、ReceptoPharmが公表している情報によると…、

• 【治験の内容】
• これまでにアシクロビルによる治療を受け効果が無かった76名の被験者（32名性器ヘルペス、18名口唇ヘルペス、26名帯状発疹）に対しRPI-78Mを投与
• 軟膏もしくは筋肉注射による投与
• 中度の症状（6ケース）に対しては、100ｇ中0.35マイクログラムのRPI-78M（軟膏）を1日3回塗る
• 重度の症状（20ケース）に対しては、0.05マイクログラムのRPI-78Mを筋肉注射で投与＆1日3回塗る
• 性器ヘルペスと口唇ヘルペスには8日間、中度の帯状発疹には15日間、重度の帯状発疹には30日間投与した

ところ…、

• 副作用などは確認されなかった
• 痛みなどの症状が大きく軽減された
• 被験者の反応は以下の通り…

First Experiment in the Treatment of Herpetic Infections with a New Antiviral Product

Design

Open label, intention to treat. The diagnosis and main criteria for inclusion were confirmed herpes infection, previously treated with and non-responsive to Acyclovir. Two product formats were to be employed; injectable and unguent. Topical application for genital or oral herpes infections: 3x daily, cream (0.35mcg RPI-78M / 100g cream). In 6 cases of mild herpes zoster: topical application was applied 3x daily. In 20 sever cases of herpes zoster: 0.05 mcg/day, i.m. + topical application 3x daily. The duration of treatment was as follows: Genital or Oral herpes, 8 days; mild Herpes Zoster, 15 days; severe Herpes Zoster, 30 days. Efficacy was determined by: time for pain reduction and visual aspect of the lesions. I.M. cases also had blood and urine tests. In total there were 76 enrolled with 32 subject with genital herpes, 18 with oral herpes and 26 with Shingles.

Responses to Treatments

The study addressed both the topical and systemic use of RPI-78M in herpes infections caused by HSV 1, HSV 2, and Zoster in 76 patients. Every patient who participated in this trial had been previously treated with Acyclovir. As in the animal studies, there were no reported side effects or adverse reactions. Rapid lesion clearance was reported with significant pain reduction particularly in patients with shingles. In summary there was a 78% very satisfactory improvement, 22% modest improvement; only 2 relapses in subjects with herpes simplex. Three (3) subjects withdrew because of impatience. In subjects with herpes zoster there was a 96% satisfactory improvement. It was concluded that RPI-78M was an effective agent against HSV and it also shows effectiveness against neuritic pain associated with shingles.
