性器ヘルペス用ワクチン TheraVax ＆ ProfaVax 治験を計画？

「そう言えば、ワクチンリストの解説をまだ完了してなかったんだっけ…」と心のどこかでつぶやく別の私がいるんですが…（笑）、まぁ、今回までは好きにやらせてくださいな、旦那…。

ということで、リサーチがてら、ちらほらと色んなサイトを見て回っていたんですが、やっぱり気になるのが TheraVax についてでして…、

　　Halford博士が亡くなった後、ワクチン開発はどんな風になるんだろう…

という心配（というか疑念というか…）が私の中で付きまとっているんです…。

そこで、最近の動きについて少しリサーチをしてみましたので、今回はその話題についてご報告したいと思います。


（１）Halford博士が亡くなった後の動き

以前の投稿（こちら）でも書きましたが、Halford博士がお亡くなりになった後は Southern Illinois University のゲルシュバーグ博士（下写真）を中心とした研究者チームが治験・開発をバックアップする、ということになっていたのですが、いつもお世話になっているネタ元サイトを探してみても、その後、Rational Vaccineに関する情報がほとんどUPされていなかったんです…。

私も、「これは何かあったんじゃないかなぁ…」と心配になったんですが…、別のサイトを探してみたところ、7月28日付で Health Insurance Options というブログに Fernandezさんに対して行ったインタビュー結果を基にした記事がUPされていました！(^_-)-☆

Health Insurance Options についてですが、初めてアクセスしたブログなので、どれだけの信ぴょう性があるのかちょっと分かりませんが…、ちょっと「オッ！」(^^)/ と思える情報がUPされていたので、今回使ってみることにしました☆(^_-)-☆


（２）それで、その記事の内容は…？

記事の全文は、いつものように記事の最後にUPしているので、また興味のある方は読んでみてください☆

主な内容は、Halford博士を追悼するもので、これまでの彼のワクチン開発に対する情熱や偉業を讃える内容となっているんですが、その中でも、いくつか「オッ！」と思える情報がありましたので、まずは、気になる部分を抜き出してみました ☆

まぁ、それはイイとして…、今回の記事で私が「オッ！」と感じたのは、以下の3点でした。

（３）「オッ！」と思ったポイントは？

最初のポイントは、いわゆる Staffing（人員配置）についてなんですが、Gershburg博士が非常勤研究員（おそらく主席研究員）という身分で参加し、研究員も4名に増員する予定のようですね。研究員が増えるのは喜ばしいことなんですが、Gershburg博士が「非常勤研究員」としてワクチン開発に関わるけど、その役割がイマイチハッキリしないという点が、私にとっては、「う～ん…」と考えてしまうところです…。

大学の研究者が企業と共同研究することは良くあることで、その際にも、

　　本籍は大学に、企業では非常勤として研究開発に従事する

という形を取ると思うんです。この点は制度上の事なのでさほど大きな問題ならないと思うんですが、「Gershburg博士が Rational Vaccine の中で、Chief Researcher 以外にどのような役割を担うのか、ハッキリしていない」という点は、私にとっては結構な不安材料であったりするんです…。通常は、プロジェクトの責任者として研究予算請求書に名前が記載されていたり、ベンチャー企業であれば役員の中に名前が載っていたりとかするわけなんですが…、

　　Rational Vaccine のホームページを見ても、一切の記載がない！

んですね… (-.-)

まぁ、先月の終わりごろにHalford博士が逝去されて、まだ間もないですからね…、まだ体制がハッキリしていないのでしょうが…、いずれハッキリとしておくべき事項になるかと思います。

やはり、人の気持ちは揺れ動くものですし、「やっぱりやーめた！」というような可能性を出来るだけ排除するためにも、Rational Vaccineの代表格的なポジションに置く必要はあるのかもしれないですね…。

いずれにしても、今後の動きに注目です！

第二のポイントは、これまでにも何度かUPした内容ですので、さほど目新しいものでもないのですが…、おそらく、

　　2017年の11月に実施予定！

という情報は皆さんにとっても「オッ！」と来るものがあるのではないでしょうか？

さらに、第三のポイントですが、これは個人的にも「是非、実現してほしい！」と考えているもので、皆さんにとってもかなり「オッ！」と来るものかと思います！

そう！ついに、

　　ヘルペス1型、2型の予防を目的としたワクチン ProfaVax の治験が開始される

かもしれないのです！(^^)/

Rational Vaccineのホームページを見てみると、ProfaVaxについては以下のような説明が書かれています。

まだ、具体的にオーストラリア周辺のどこなのかは分かりませんし、いつぐらいの時期なのかについても全く分かっておりません…。ただ、オーストラリア周辺ということは…、

　　結構、日本からも近いよね…！

ということは言えるわけで、「よしっ、チャレンジしてみよう！」という方が出てくるかもしれませんね…！(^^)/

ちなみに、私が記憶している限りでは…、

　　ProfaVaxは、現在HSVに感染している方には効果が無い

ことがデータで明らかになっていたと思います。ですので、治療を目的として治験に参加しても意味がない可能性が高いことは理解しておいてください。
